I love you provinite.
Providence and Starcrossed ponysonas woo woo.
Citrus Tang lounged across the seat in the train. Not only did her parents ditch her to go on some crazy trek across Equestria, but they had the nerve to dump her at some crazy old relative’s house who she never even met?! Watching the scenery pass in a blur outside the window she huffed fogging up the glass before looking down at at her crossed hooves.
Her parents didn’t even think to ask her if she wanted to go, they wouldn’t even hear her out! Tang honey, it’s for work! We have to write a new thesis for the universi-blah blah blah. Tang ground her teeth at the excuses they tried to feed her. She knew they just didn’t want to baby sit. Not that she even needed a sitter, she was 16 for Celestia’s sake! The very least they could have done was leave her at home to her own devices. Who even came up with this crazy idea?
That’s right, it was her Grandpa. Cheddar Jack always talked about her mom’s sister. Apparently she was going to take over the Deli for him had she stayed in Canterlot, but now she ran her own place in Ponyville? Who in their right mind would move willingly from Canterlot to no-where-ville? Sighing as she kicked her overly stuffed saddle bags. It looked like Citrus Tang would be there for a while. Her parents never gave her a defined date as to when exactly they were coming back. Just that they would write soon as they had an update. Likely, not! Tang knew better. Once they got into work she’d probably never see them again. They always picked work first while Grandpa and Grandma watched over her.
Not that she wasn’t grateful to them. Citrus Tang loved her grand parents dearly, it was nice to know somepony cared enough to check in on her. Grandpa even taught her how to cook and make her own special drinks in his Deli. She even got her cutie mark there with them. Even now she could remember the gleam of pride in Cheddar Jack’s eyes as he tried to share the news with her zoned out parents. They seemed all excited for a blink then right back to work. She could bed her Aunt would be the same way, making her work in her shop… Pffft.
"Now arriving in Ponyville! Please stay seated until the train comes to a complete stop!" Announced a loud voice over the intercoms.
Citrus Tang gave her heaviest of sighs as she flipped her hair side to side to get it just right. Looks like it was now or never, she just really hoped this Aunt of hers didn’t own like a 100 cats or something.
The train came to a slow and jerked to a sudden stop nearly making Tang’s bag roll over before she caught it with her magic. A glow of her horn and she had it hovering up into the air where she stood up and walked under it before gentling setting the heavy bags down over her back. Walking to the door she let other pony passengers pass before she got off onto the platform.
Not really having a moment to look around the rinky dink train station she heard her name, “Citrus Tang?” called out in a questioning manner. Turning to look at the cocoa brown unicorn standing just a few feet away. She looked nervous but still had a bright smile pulling at her face.
"Yeah?" She called back in a dull tone. Tang swore she saw the unicorn falter for a moment, but it didn’t seem to stop her. Stepping forward closer to her she smiled and nodded to her.
"Hello Citrus Tang. My name is Mocha Delight and I’m your Aunt. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you!" She said with a hint of excitement.
It took everything in her not to roll her eyes at the mare. “Uhm. Yeah. You too.” keeping her flat tone. “Like this is kind of heavy, can we get going?” Tang motioned at her saddlebags.
Mocha bobbed her head, “Ah! O-of course! Please follow me, we can chat back home after you’ve gotten to settle in.” She turned and started to walk down the side of the platform as Citrus Tang followed close behind.
Random ponies on the street waved and shouted good mornings to the brown unicorn ahead of her. Tang wasn’t sure what to make of it when they looked curiously at her. Instead she kept her head down and let her finely chopped mane shade her face.
Mocha Delight paced around the cafe. Lifting her chin she reached a hoof up and bobbed it up and down as she counted off the things to do like waxing the floors, polishing the counters, and putting away all of the dishes. She had to have this place spic and span before her niece arrived, she couldn’t believe it! She was meeting her niece for the first time!
Mocha didn’t mean to be so out of touch with her family in Canterlot. But since she left so many years ago, she had no real yearning to go back. The yearly Christmas cards from her mother were a good reminder as to why. Sighing, she set her hoof down with a clack to snap her mind back to the present. None of that mattered. Her sister and her wonderful husband didn’t matter. Today, she was meeting Citrus Tang. The pony she had only seen pictures of growing up. Her only regret wasn’t being able to meet her sooner, especially now that Mocha knew she had an interest in the beverage business!
Her pride seemed to glow from her as she looked around her small cafe. It was a quaint place, she had the funds and time to expand now but just didn’t think she wanted to change a thing. She and the other residents of Ponyville seemed to like it just the way it was. Plus whenever she needed extra seating, she made up some nice tables outside for her customers to enjoy the sunny days.
Picking up her shawl with a glow of levitation she neatly wrapped it around her neck and mane, loosely knotting it in the front over her chest. Walking to the door as it opened she paused and glanced back as if to make sure the glasses hadn’t moved. Smiling again to herself she turned and let the door swing shut behind her with a jingle, the sign reading CLOSED in the window. Normally she would rise bright and early for the ponies and other creatures to grab a sip to pick them up before the days work, but not today. She planned to have the entire Cafe closed today in order to show her niece around.
Picking up her pace to a trot Mocha Delight smiled and nodded to her neighboring ponies who were also early risers. Cheering them good mornings as she made her way down to the train station. She had gotten there a little early, but she didn’t mind the wait. It gave her time to prepare what she wanted to say. How to introduce herself? How do you explain to a young filly why you never came to visit her for 16 years? Mocha grimaced and clicked her hooves to the wooden platform. Surely Citrus Tang would be happy to see her in general and it wouldn’t even matter. They were both beverage ponies after all, they were sure to get along famously!
Would you guys prefer it get lots of pony doodles? This would be lots of just free range doodles, concepts, occasional silly asks.
or would you like actual story content of the characters here? (Example: Mocha Delight, Citrus Tang, Poppy, and the rest of them.) This would be occasional art but mostly written story content of the characters living and interacting?
Darling you’re going to drown yourself in tears.
I’m having a frustrating night so I’m drawing my OC ponies.
Cinders, I don’t know what it is about you. But my heart hurts for you. Aren’t you lonely big boy?
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Clover Coin Designs can not make it to Bronycon 2014.
We had everything prepared, purchased a booth, got supplies ready, booked a hotel. But life has a funny way of making things turn for the worst.
It was a year of planning to do this, we even went to Bronycon2013 just to promote ourselves and our table at next year’s convention. It’s a very heavy heart that we have to back out now, just before the convention takes place.
We have been receiving so many wonderful messages about people excited to see us there, to purchase our artwork and goods. We couldn’t wait to see you all and meet you in person! I’m actually in tears writing this right now, haha.
If some of you follow my personal blog, Doodleloser, you’ll know we had a car accident on the way to MLP-MSP in June. After long and rather painful paper work sessions with the insurance company we still haven’t gotten the money from the totaled car. That means we still haven’t purchased a new car to drive to Baltimore.
That isn’t the biggest issue though. We had a rough budget of $5000 - $6000 to go to Baltimore and make a great trip out of it. My design work job didn’t pay me in June like it has the past 2 years. There was some sort of “miscalculation” in their departments and they have to delay payments to September. This is the money I get in BULK and use to pay monthly rent/bills/so on. I budget this money VERY STRICTLY to survive on. This was the money I was using for Bronycon this year. I did not get that money and will not be getting it for a while it seems. We thought we could maybe even use the car insurance pay out money to fund our trip and even rent a car to go to Baltimore… But the insurance company isn’t sure when the date we will get paid.
Due to everything that has happened… We can’t safely plan to go to Baltimore this year. We were so excited to see you all, to meet up with so many other artists, we wish there was something we could do… But it’s just too close to the convention to properly recover from.
We want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported us. Who wished us well. Who wanted to see us there. Thank you SO much. We’re going to try and prepare again, try and see if we can’t make it next year some how. I just wish there was more we could do.
Quick little doodle of my little filly oc Trinket!
Bring back the smoke…
